Women cry an average of 64 times a year, while men cry 17 times. Tears are secreted from the lacrimal gland located in the upper eyelid and enter the nose and mouth. A large amount of tears cover the lower eyelids and begin to flow down the cheeks.

Physiologically, there are three types of tears. Primary or permanent tears are responsible for keeping the eyes moist. Reflex tears are protective tears that occur when something gets in the eye or when you cut an onion, and the latter is a tear that occurs when something unpleasant occurs.

The composition of the tears produced in these three different situations is also different.
Do you know that your eyes are always full of tears? These tears are responsible for keeping the eyes healthy by providing oxygen, cleaning waste, and killing some harmful bacteria. It contains salt, protein lysozyme, mucus fat, lactoferrin, lipocaplin, lactyrin immunoglobulin, glucose, uric acid, sodium and potassium. But the composition of tears caused by emotions is completely different. These tears contain a large amount of manganese, adrenocorticotropin, leucine, and enkephalin.

When we get upset, angry, or hurt, we react strongly, and for a longer period of time, the body produces more harmful chemical hormones. We only need to cry when these substances that are not needed by the body are released. That's why some of us say that after crying, we feel better than before.
